My English course experience

Being taught in English at a Korean university is a unique experience. The curriculum usually emphasizes critical thinking and an international perspective, which is somewhat different from the traditional Korean educational style. In the beginning, I had to get used to the way the professors taught in English, such as the fast pace of speech, academic terminology, and more discussion and interaction. I will read the course material in advance and prepare some questions so that I can participate more actively in class. This experience not only improved my English ability, but also made me learn to think more flexibly.

Get used to life in Korea

Adjusting to life in Korea has been a gradual process. From eating habits to transportation systems to ways of learning and communicating, every little thing is a new challenge. In the first month of living in Korea, I often relied on translation apps and mobile phone navigation, but slowly, I learned basic Korean and was able to handle daily tasks independently. In addition, the cultural activities and social atmosphere in South Korea also helped me integrate into local life more quickly. For example, experiencing hanbok with friends, attending temple fairs or tasting traditional food has given me a deeper understanding of Korean culture.

Learn Wiki technology

Learning Wiki technology has given me a new understanding of how information is organized and shared. In the course, I learned how to create and edit Wiki pages, including adding hyperlinks, managing content versions, and formatting text using the Markdown language. This process not only gave me technical skills, but also gave me a deep understanding of the importance of collaboration. By completing the Wiki project together with my classmates, I experienced the efficiency of division of labor and cooperation, and also exercised my team communication ability. These skills will be of great help in the future, both in academic research and in the workplace.

Suggestions for improving the international student experience

To help international students better adjust to life in South Korea, schools can add basic Korean language courses, hold cross-cultural exchange activities such as urban exploration and traditional art experiences, while offering academic guidance such as lectures on the skills of essay writing and academic presentation. In addition, establishing a support group for international students can also provide them with support and a sense of belonging. Through these measures, international students are able to integrate more quickly into the local environment, while injecting diverse cultural vitality into the campus.
