Extra credit blog: China and globalization ---HAN JIAYI

As a student, I feel that China's relationship with globalization is like a two-way street, relying on each other and developing together. As I grew up, the impact of globalization on China was everywhere, and China became an important player and promoter of globalization through its own power.

First, globalization has brought great development opportunities to China. For example, many of the electronic products we use every day are due to globalization. I remember my teacher saying that before joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), China's exports of goods were not very large. But after joining, China began to integrate into the international market, and the manufacturing industry became very strong, becoming the "factory of the world." Many parts like Apple's phones are made in China, which not only makes China earn foreign currency, but also gives many people jobs.

At the same time, globalization has made me feel how open and diverse the world is. When I was young, I thought all fast food restaurants were Chinese restaurants, but when I grew up, I realized that foreign brands like McDonald's and Starbucks were almost everywhere in Chinese cities. Moreover, because of globalization, we have the opportunity to be exposed to more foreign cultures, such as learning English, watching foreign movies, and even trying different countries' cuisine. I think it has broadened my horizons and taught me a lot of new things.

Of course, globalization also poses some challenges for China. For example, when we enjoy the convenience of industrial development, we also face the problem of environmental pollution. Some factories pollute air and water in order to meet international orders. I learned in geography that the government is now putting a lot of effort into managing the environment, such as developing new energy sources and electric vehicles, all related to the needs of globalization.

On the other hand, China has also played an important role in globalization. I remember in one discussion, the teacher mentioned the Belt and Road Initiative, a plan by China to cooperate with other countries to help other countries develop by building railways and ports, while also making Chinese goods more accessible to these markets. There is also our high-speed rail technology, 5G network, and many countries want to cooperate with China.

China and globalization are mutually beneficial. China has gained development opportunities from globalization, but also let the world see China's power.
