Extra Credit Blog 2: International Students' Perspectives on Globalization HUANGQIHAO
As a Chinese student studying in South Korea, I can look at globalization issues and the process of globalization in China from the unique perspective of international students. The impact of globalization on China is all-round. It has not only changed China's economic, political and cultural landscape, but also profoundly affected our life, study and future career development. From the perspective of international students, I can discuss China's globalization from the following aspects:
1. Globalization of education and China's study abroad boom
Globalization has promoted international educational exchanges, making more and more Chinese students choose to study abroad, and South Korea is one of the popular destinations. This is not only a choice for individual education development, but also reflects the trend of China's integration into the global education system.
An international student's perspective: When I came to South Korea to study, I personally experienced the flow of educational resources and cultural exchanges brought about by globalization. In Korean universities, I can have access to more international courses, study and discuss problems with students from different countries, which allows me to broaden my horizons and learn more diversified knowledge systems. As an international student, I also deeply feel the importance of Chinese students in the global education system, especially the Chinese government's "Study abroad Service Program" encourages us to return to China after graduation and contribute to China's globalization and development.
China's globalization problem: Despite the large number of Chinese students studying abroad, the globalization of education in China in turn faces some challenges. Despite the growing number of international students coming to study in China, the country's influence in the global education system is limited compared to developed countries. Therefore, enhancing the global appeal of Chinese education and increasing opportunities for international academic exchanges are important tasks for China in the process of globalization.
2. Economic globalization and the rise of China
By actively participating in globalization, China has made the leap from a closed economy to the world's second largest economy. The rise of China has played a crucial role in globalization, and this process has also brought great opportunities for Chinese companies, students and global cooperation.
An international student's perspective: As an international student, I have seen the rapid expansion of Chinese companies in globalization. In South Korea, I came into contact with many Chinese brands, which shows that the globalization of the Chinese economy has reached all corners of the world. Companies such as Huawei and Alibaba are not only influential in South Korea, but also have established a new image of Chinese companies worldwide. International students' international learning experience can also help us better adapt to the needs of the future global workplace.
China's globalization problem: However, China's economic globalization also faces some problems. The Sino-US trade war and other international economic conflicts have made China face more challenges in the process of globalization. China needs to continuously optimize its opening-up policy, enhance its international competitiveness, and maintain sustainable economic development in the face of globalization. As international students, we have the opportunity to learn about the experiences and challenges of other countries through our study and practice abroad, and help China cope with the uncertainties brought about by globalization.
3. Cultural globalization and cultural exchanges between China and South Korea
Globalization is not only economic, but also cultural. Chinese culture is constantly spreading with the tide of globalization, but it is also influenced by foreign cultures. During my study in South Korea, I deeply experienced the cultural exchanges and collisions between China and South Korea.
Student's perspective: Korean culture (such as K-pop, Korean dramas, etc.) has a wide influence around the world, and in Korea, I also see more and more Chinese cultural elements being accepted and appreciated. As a Chinese student, I often discuss China's traditional culture and modern changes with my South Korean friends, and this cultural exchange has deepened the mutual understanding between the two peoples. At the same time, I also realize that globalization brings not only opportunities for cultural transmission, but also challenges for cultural identity. Students abroad may face the problem of how to maintain their cultural identity in a global cultural context.
China's globalization problem: The global spread of Chinese culture still faces some obstacles, such as language and cultural differences. Although China is promoting cultural exchanges through the Belt and Road Initiative, how to improve the global influence of Chinese culture, especially the spread among the younger generation, remains an important issue in the process of globalization. As an international student, I can use my experience in cross-cultural communication to help spread Chinese culture and build a bridge for cultural understanding between the two countries.
4. Technological change in globalization and China's innovation
Globalization has promoted the rapid development of technology, and technology has become an important field of global competition. China has made great progress in information technology, artificial intelligence and other fields, becoming an important player in global technological innovation.
An international student's perspective: In Korea, I felt the impact of technological advances brought about by globalization on my life. For example, in daily life, South Korea's cashless payment, smart city system has a lot in common with China. It made me more aware of the global impact of China's technological globalization. As a journalism student, I have also seen how the globalization of technology has changed the mode of news dissemination, especially the rise of digital media and social platforms, making information spread faster and more widely.
China's globalization problem: Although China has made remarkable progress in the globalization of technology, the technology competition between China and the United States highlights China's shortcomings in high-end technology. As international students, we can take advantage of the opportunity to study in South Korea, learn the latest technological trends and innovation models, and help China cope with the challenges of global technological competition and promote China's innovative development after returning home.
5. Environmental globalization and sustainable development in China
Globalization not only promotes economic and cultural exchanges, but also brings environmental problems on a global scale. Global issues such as climate change and resource shortage have become common challenges to all countries. As an important part of globalization, China has actively participated in international environmental governance.
In South Korea, I saw that environmental awareness has been deeply embedded in daily life, such as garbage sorting and reducing carbon emissions. China is also making efforts to address global environmental issues. As a Chinese student, I can put forward more suggestions on how to learn from South Korea's experience and improve China's environmental governance by understanding South Korea's environmental policies.
China's globalization problem: Although China plays an active role in global environmental governance, it still faces environmental pressures brought about by the process of industrialization. China needs to balance economic development with environmental protection in the context of globalization. As international students, we can help China achieve its sustainable development goals by studying abroad and absorbing green technologies and policies from other countries.
Summary: The role of international students in globalization
As a Chinese student, I am at the intersection of globalization and can understand China's globalization from a unique perspective. Globalization has not only changed the political and economic structure of countries, but also affected the life and study of each of us. Through the study abroad experience in South Korea, I can see globalization in a more comprehensive way, learn how to think in the context of globalization, and prepare for my career development when I return to China in the future.
