blog 3: What is the relation between politics and globalization?---HAN JIAYI

Globalization has made the world smaller and nations more connected, and politics has played a big part in it.

Globalization has made countries more dependent on one another, and many problems require political cooperation to solve. For example, climate change, epidemics and international trade cannot be dealt with alone and need to be discussed and decided together. Agreements like the Paris Agreement are the fruit of countries' collective efforts to protect the planet in the context of globalization.

Globalization has also complicated politics. Some countries, for example, feel that globalization threatens their own interests. They argue that too many international rules could weaken their sovereignty and prevent them from formulating policies exactly as they wish. Just as some people in the class don't want to be bound by collective rules, some countries want to be freer. Brexit is an example of how they felt the EU's rules were limiting their own development, so they opted out.

Globalization has exacerbated the clash between different political systems and ideologies. In the midst of globalization, there has been more interaction and competition between democratic and authoritarian states. This competition both promotes mutual understanding and creates certain contradictions.

In general, politics and globalization interact. Globalization requires politics to set rules and promote cooperation, and politics has become more complex and diverse as a result of globalization.
