Blog 3:What is the relation between politics and globalization?

 In Reading 3, globalization was defined as a multidimensional, accelerated, and interconnected organization of space and time across borders. In particular, politics and globalization are indispensable aspects when talking about countries and networks between countries. Politics and globalization act as media that connect each other in terms of connecting each other, but for some, they become divisive beings.

Talking about the relationship between politics and globalization, the story of democracy and capitalism cannot be left out. Democracy is a process in which people decide their representation through the realization of the right to participate in politics, such as voting, and its leader is likely to change differently from dictatorship. This characteristic applies equally to unions of countries such as the United Nations in international circumstances. Each country becomes a citizen, elects their leader, and establishes international norms. However, since recent society has the aspect of proceeding with work from a Western-centered perspective, it is necessary to proceed with this in mind. Capitalism is also related in a similar sense. Most countries in the world advocate capitalism. Therefore, the one who has capital, or money, is bound to have power. Great powers have power over developing countries, which can promote imbalances by setting international norms.

After all, since politics is a battle between power and power, it has a similar aspect to the zero-sum game in which if someone benefits, someone will lose. It is highly likely that someone who benefits from this will be a strong person with power, while someone who suffers losses will be the position of a weak person with less power. Only by addressing this gap can an ideal situation be created because globalization advocates global citizenship under the concept of a global village. Paradoxically, in order to solve this problem, the difference must be narrowed by utilizing even more political aspects. It can be seen that the international community is functioning properly only when it is connected and strong enough to suppress individual countries. It should also be combined on the basis of mutual respect, not just the logic of power. Only the use of fair and equitable politics will be the way to close the gap between reality and ideals.

Political globalization can result in division of each other, but it is a process that must be done to form their autonomy and solidarity. As the scale grows worldwide, an attitude that values universal values is needed.
