Blog3 : What is the relation between politics and globalization? - Kim jong min(hanyang)

Due to the development of networks and communications, globalization has been rapidly progressing, and many countries are internationally connected and interdependent regardless of their distance from each other. As a result, political institutions and organizations (e.g., international organizations) have been established to deal with economic and political disputes or cooperation between countries. International organizations can serve as communication channels for disputes and cooperation between countries, or sometimes influence national policy decisions at the political level (e.g., the European Union). Globalization has also globalized in terms of trade and economic transactions, so organizations such as the IMF have been created to adjust exchange rates and build economic systems. Therefore, globalization and politics are closely related, and globalization has become a factor that not only affects international politics but also affects the internal policy decisions of each country.

I think that cooperation between politics and globalization can be evaluated positively or negatively depending on the position of each country or the inclination of each country's leader.

For example, conservative politicians (e.g., Donald Trump) may oppose cooperation with international organizations related to globalization. They may protect their own trade or take nationalistic actions because they prioritize their own economic or cultural interests. Contributing to globalization can sometimes feel like serving and serving the powerful. Therefore, they will play politics to maximize their own interests rather than contributing to globalization. Perhaps they will try to make globalization more beneficial to their own country. This may be a better decision for the powerful.

On the other hand, progressive politicians will agree to cooperate with international organizations and policies. They will prefer to strengthen international cooperation and policies. They believe that economically successful countries and people should serve or help more people. For them, globalization would involve cooperating with more countries and institutions to help poor or disadvantaged people or countries. Such efforts may be detrimental to the powerful.

This is simply a difference in political thinking, and there is no right or wrong. Political views on globalization may differ depending on the position of each country. Also, political decisions made by each country considering its circumstances or economic level may be different.
