What is the relation between culture and globalization? --ZHUANG MINNA

Over the past few decades, there has been an increasing amount of commercial and cultural exchange between countries. While some see this trend as a positive development, others worry that it may cause individual countries to lose their national identity.

Cultural interactions between countries promote mutual understanding. With more exposure to foreign cultures, people's horizons are broadened and conflicts caused by cultural differences or misunderstandings are reduced.

However, some people believe that globalization is accompanied by cultural invasion and erosion of national identity. Increased exchanges have led to countries imitating each other, causing countries to become similar while their uniqueness is gradually lost. Their characteristic foods, traditional costumes and handicrafts begin to disappear. People are keen to accept foreign goods and culture, but casually abandon their own traditions and customs. If this trend continues, local culture may disappear, bringing great losses to human civilization.

I believe that economic and cultural exchanges between different countries should be encouraged, which is an irreversible trend in the future. However, while absorbing cultural elements from other countries, we should also cherish and preserve our own traditions and customs.
