What is the relation between culture and globalization?

John Tomlinson, in his article "The Globalization of Culture", explores how globalization affects the exchange and integration of different cultures. He argues that globalization is not just about economic and political exchanges, but also the spread and expansion of culture. Through modern technology and media, cultures from different regions can come into contact with each other, such as the example I gave in my answer to the question in class, where Korean KPOP culture has spread across the globe through the Internet.
In my essay I found Tomlinson arguing that globalization is not simply a matter of one culture overriding another, but rather that different cultures interact with each other to form new forms of culture. For example, McDonald's adjusts its menu to suit local tastes, and Hollywood movies add Chinese elements to attract audiences. Demonstrating that globalization does not eliminate cultural differences but creates new ways of cultural interaction.
But at the same time globalization has also raised concerns about cultural identity, especially in regions where native cultures are more fragile. Some fear that the expansion of global culture will lead to the disappearance of native cultures. Tomlinson, however, argues that cultural identities under globalization are diverse and can both preserve the uniqueness of native cultures and embrace the influence of foreign cultures.
Finally, Tomlinson emphasizes the importance of preserving and passing on indigenous cultures in the process of globalization. This is not just about preserving cultural heritage, but also about respecting cultural diversity. Many countries and regions are making efforts to revitalize their traditional cultures to cope with the impact of foreign cultures. In a nutshell, globalization brings opportunities for cultural exchanges as well as poses the challenge of preserving cultural diversity.
So according to the above, I think globalization is the highest stage of culture. Once a culture has achieved globalization, it proves that it must have shown its own characteristics in full while catering to the public at the same time. Globalization has facilitated the spread of culture and increased diversity. But it has also had some effects, such as the problem of preserving culture.
