What is Globalization?LIU ZIFU
Based on the PDF, I understand the following and have some personal thoughts.
1. Globalization is a process involving connectivity and increased awareness. It includes economic, political, cultural and social aspects. Globalization has made the world more interdependent, especially in economic and cultural aspects, which reminds me of my home country, China. In 2001, China joined the World Trade Organization (WTO) and since then its GDP has soared. In recent years, the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by our President has brought us closer to countries in the Middle East and Africa. I think this is proof of globalization. Therefore, I think globalization is all kinds of exchanges between countries on earth, which can be economic help or cultural exchanges.
2. At the same time, I have seen discussions about global inequality, cultural homogeneity and local differences. Scholars have also proposed "pluralistic globalization" as a result of multiple interactions. This got me thinking about Coke. I see Coke as a phenomenon of cultural homogenization. Wherever you go, in whatever country you go, you see Coca-Cola. I think this reflects the standardization and uniformity brought about by globalization. There are also dozens of flavors in China, such as Coke Cherry Blossom. His way of adapting to local culture, I think, is a reflection of local differences in globalization. On the one hand, globalization promotes the expansion and standardization of global brands; on the other hand, local culture localizes global brands, forming the result of the interaction between global and local.
