What is Globalization--GUO YING

Globalization is not exactly the right and authoritative definition and concept. Different scholars, from various perspectives and disciplines, have proposed multiple definitions and understandings of globalization. Among its most important characteristics is the ever-increasing global connectivity. As such, globalization manifests itself as economic globalization, cultural globalization, political globalization, and social globalization.

1.Economic globalization:Since the early 1990s, wealthy countries have promoted policies of open markets, free trade, deregulation, and privatization, with multinational corporations becoming symbols of globalization. Goods flow freely between countries, creating tight economic links that influence one another. However, with the rise of early globalization movements, protests against economic inequality have also emerged.

2.Cultural globalization can manifest as different brands promoting relatively homogenized consumption patterns globally. For example, the hamburger culture that initially arose in the United States has gradually sparked a fast-food craze worldwide, with KFC and McDonald's rapidly expanding their stores globally. It is also important to note that cultural globalization has led to multicultural social issues, such as widespread immigration and the diversification of ways individuals express their identities. This reflects the complex relationship between homogeneity and difference, presenting greater challenges for individuals and international systems.

3.Social globalization:Throughout the globalization process, issues related to humanity have garnered widespread attention. In addition to the protection of basic human rights, there has been increased focus on the rights of more vulnerable groups based on various categories of rights. At the same time, the relationship between globalization and localization has been reexamined, emphasizing that the interaction between the global and local is interdependent rather than oppositional. This phenomenon of integration is seen as a new form of cultural diffusion.

Personal summary :Although there is no specific concept or definition of globalization, our blind critical analysis of globalization is incorrect. It is important to develop your own unique mental understanding within the complex framework of globalization and to recognize that peoples and nations, economies, politics, individuals and humanity are closely linked and socialized in the process of globalization. As university students, we deeply understand the globalization process and analyze the social relationships and complex structures that are very beneficial to our learning life.
