Kim jong min (hanyang) What is globalization?

Globalization can be defined in many ways. Sociologists Martin Albro and Elizabeth King define globalization as "the process by which the world's peoples are integrated into a single world society," and Roland Robertson describes it as "the compression of the world and the intensification of world consciousness."

Globalization is taking place in various fields such as cultural globalization, economic globalization, and political globalization.

Among these fields, I think economic globalization has had the greatest impact on globalization in other fields. In my opinion, merchants contributed greatly to the spread of culture. Historically, merchants acquired or exported goods and cultures from other countries to make money. The influx of cultures from other regions may occur for bad reasons, such as war. However, it was ultimately merchants and businessmen who spread these cultures to the general public. For example, the connection between Genghis Khan's European wars and the Silk Road, between economic revival and colonial wars in the Age of Discovery

The fact that Korea's K-content culture has become famous and has had a great influence on the globalization of Korean culture can be called cultural globalization, but I think it is also related to economic globalization. Korean cultural content companies must have recognized the competitiveness of Korean content in the world and done their best to export content to the world for business gain. As a result, people around the world can purchase and enjoy Korean dramas and music. It can be said that economic globalization and cultural globalization occurred simultaneously. This is because the movement of services, goods, and technology and the phenomenon of being able to enjoy Korean cultural content anywhere occurred at the same time.

I would like to point out that this article contains a summary of the references, but also contains more of my views on globalization. Thank you.

  1. I wrote something similar to mine, but I was impressed by the part that gave examples from a Korean perspective. Also, I felt like the interpretation of globalization was similar to mine, so I sympathized a lot. Thank you for the good writing.
